It matters about what taste that people have, I mean some bishounens have freaking awesome personality & character development! & some are just plain. . . . .no. . .(to put in a nice way) but hey! some people might like those kinds of thing because that's there taste!
I try not to judge characters by their looks, but IMHO, most bishounen pretty boy characters are just poorly written, poorly executed and unintentionally unlikable. I think most bishounen characters are ugly, inside and out. They look and act like drugged out anorexic divas. I mean, I bet fangirl would hate the bishounen characters if they wern't bishounen. Sad but true.
How are you.it's my pleasure to write you for friend, could you please contact me on my email address (firstname.lastname@example.org)I have good reason for contacting you which

As much as women generally like the bishonen-type because they don't look muscular or gruff, it's the manly men out there who look the way they do because they're not apologizing for being men.
That's why I would never want to be bishonen.
i usually like bishonen but the art is off in the bishie
What I'm saying is, the whole fem-male hate is just ridiculous. Whether a man fits the muscle stereotype to the fem stereotype, WHO CARES? Stereotypes do not equal gender. Manly=/=Muscle
I like all kinds of men. You like the muscle kind, that's fine. But don't be hating the other side of the spectrum.
And I'm a woman, so.... the whole 'real man' is this or that, means nothing to me.
larger, fully developed muscles is a male-only trait that women can only get close to by taking anabolic steroids which is testosterone and testosterone is produced naturally by men at three times the amount a woman produces. so yeah men being represented as muscular is relevant, in fact it is symbolic.
now you must be thinking "but there are thin men out there too!!" yes there is, but they DO NOT look like women, just thin men much like fat men still look like men. the fact that you described an existence of these "Fem-men" just baffles me. by your logic: if muscularity should not be a way to symbolise masculinity then the lack of muscles and overall womanly features should not symbolise femininity and then BOOM the meaning of a "Fem-men" is nullified. congratulations are in order, you contradicted yourself.
who cares? who cares that the male identity is being downplayed for women who have a hard-on for men who look like girls (that's messed up. this probably suggests a homoerotic latency in women who like bishonen)? MEN CARE! it matters to us that we are being misrepresented in such an insulting manner, it matters to us that that boys who look at bishonen freaks will grow to abandon a realistic body image for an unrealistic one. it matters to us that men are being typecast in anime/manga as villains and joke characters. it matters to us that the male protagonists are being abused for the sake of laughs. it matters to us that the male protagonists are boyish and never manly and it matters to us that there are rarely any positive male role-models so don't you dare simplify something you do not understand!
you know, when I was younger I didn't care about how the characters looked but as I matured mentally and physically, I started to get annoyed with the way males were being represented and that got me avoiding anime with bishonen characters or an overall girly anime in general because there was never a character I myself could latch onto and sympathise with. the characters I want to see, are being seen in such a negative way that it is off-putting.
being exposed to those horrid principles in anime takes a toll on my psyche because it tells me that if I have to live my life as a man I would have to accept that I will not be seen as a good person by anyone, but I don't think anybody deserves to feel that way.
Perhaps you misjudged me, or maybe you are writing me off as a troll to dismiss my argument and slander me by giving me such a title? Judging by the fact that your reply is accusative yet only two-worded points to such a conclusion.
Anyways happy new year.
I wasn't going for a whole gender argument. o.O
And the way you say I like muscle men seems to imply that you think I'm gay. x3
I'm not gay, and this has nothing to do with the whole gender wars bullshit, this is about the fact that men do not look like women like in anime.
Shock of all shocks, once upon a time men in anime were jacked beyond belief, and they weren't a villain.
You could argue "Well now they're trying to make them look more Japanese" and my argument is I have never seen a Japanese man that isn't a transgender, have the same figure and looks as a woman. Do I expect them to be super ripped? No, but I don't expect them to look like (how most weaboos call them) a Bishe.
I defy you to find me a picture of a straight man that isn't a transgender, yet has the figure and looks of a woman. You can't, cause Bishes don't exist.
